No reason that Illinois should be left out of the wolf fun! Six states currently have over a million (or close to) in predation, predation management, and unconfirmed predation costs per state per year. All six states can give you examples where this killer have effected prey populations. The pro-wolf lobby would love to add Maine, Colorado, Oregon & Washington into the fun! The best part of the fun is when the Feds (& pro-wolf groups) give up management of this non-endangered animal they try to bow out of the annual cost to maintain them.

Northeastoutdoors,
I didn't mean who in the U.S. is going to miss them, I meant here in IL. They aren't abudnant, and very few, and I mean very few people see a wolf or a cougar. I don't know about where you live but here in IL we can lawfully take a cougar if we see one. Sure they could be useful with the deer herd but what about when they get into the cattle or other livestock herds????

The Endangered Species Act protects wolves even in states which don't "recognize" them. The United States Fish & Wildlife Service is facing difficulty removing wolves from protection by frivolous anti-hunting lawsuits. Who is going to "miss" wolves and cougars? We "all" should, if we truly care about teh outdoors and wildlife.

wolves are federally protected in wis if they are messing with cattle.dogs.etc... you can shoot them if you do make sure you call your department of natural resources and report it or you will be in violation of law. good luck

I doubt it, wolves aren't recognized here in IL so who is going to miss them, same with cougars

Check with you wildlife department, whatever it's called in Illinois, DNR, P&G, whatever. They will have all the regs, and they are the ones who uphold them.
