  • Montana X3 or Browning Hell's Canyon Speed Long Range McMillan

I am looking for a gun that I can drag all around the US. A rifle that is truly the best all purpose rifle. Something that can take down anything from whitetail to elk and moose. I want a reliable rifle that works well in the Midwest but also something I can take West to hunt big game at long range. The Montana X3 and the Browning X-bolt are the two guns I have narrowed it down to. I am wondering which one is better and what caliber I should get for the Browning? Both seem like wonderful rifles, but I'm struggling with which one to choose.
I like the Montana X3's price and wide variety of calibers it comes in(If I do chose this rifle I will get it in 30-06). However I like the 26 inch barrel and the grip of the Browning but unfortunately it costs significantly more. I wonder if it warrants the much higher cost (around $500 more than the X3). My other issue is it is available only in 6mm Creedmoor, 6.5 Creedmoor, 300 WSM, 26 Nosler, 7mm Rem Mag, 28 Nosler, and 300 Win Mag. All of these calibers, with the exception of the 300 Win Mag, I am unfamiliar with. My initial thought was to get the 300 Win Mag, but the 6.5 Creedmoor is very interesting but I have concerns that it can take down larger game like elk and moose unless you get an incredibly well placed shot.
Any thoughts on which of these two guns to get would be appreciated. Also any suggestions on reasonably priced optics(Scopes, binoculars, rangefinders, etc.) that I can hunt anywhere with would be appreciated.
    Jason M
