north woods law the tv program that supposed to help educate the non hunting public continues to demonize hunters that bait deer as unethical,cheating,unsportsmen like and in MAINE illegal.So the viewers are already biased when they see how other states use baiting for population control, helping seniors, handicap, novice and young hunters be succesful must be involved in wrong doing also .I MAINTAIN this program is doing more harm than good depicting the legal hunter as immoral.MAINE is also a sunday hunting ban state,other states should reciprocate and not allow maine out of state hunters to hunt saturday or sunday.On a different note one of thier wardens stated on a recent show it was obvious the reason a hunter missed a bow shot and over shot the animal was the arrow picked up additional speed 20 to 25 feet after leaving the bow shelf. welcome to kentucky leave the b.s at the borders

I haven't seen the show, so I can't comment in that regard, but it seems reasonable that a show about game wardens in Maine would show baiting in a negative light, given that it IS illegal there. I don't really see what your complaint is. Are they supposed to show an illegal activity in a positive light?

I think his argument is that the show makes it seem like all hunters are bad, not just the ones doing illegal activity. And in a way I would agree with this although I have only seen part of an episode.

Okay. I can't really speak to that because I haven't watched any of the show. If that's the case then I would agree. I would say that most (not all) game wardens I have encountered, whether while hunting or otherwise, have a rather adversarial attitude. Granted, they have a tough job, and I can't really blame them for becoming a bit jaded, but it would be nice if they made an effort to be friendly.

I would say that if "Hunters" are baiting where it's not legal, then they are unethical, cheating and unsportsmanlike and should be portrayed in that light. I don't know what bias a show might create in someone but I do know if I don't like a show I change the channel.

Over its two or three seasons, the show has gone from portraying hunters mostly in a favorable light -- lots of positive comments from the wardens about most hunters doing everything legally and ethically, the wardens themselves going hunting, etc. -- to a show that seems to be subversively anti-hunting, with very, very little footage of anyone but poachers. I've noticed that they also used to specify between "poachers" and "hunters," but now, more and more, they just say "hunters" even when referring to the lawbreakers. I don't really agree with the point about baiting -- it is illegal there, so why shouldn't they show the wardens dealing with it? -- but overall I agree that the show is not very friendly to hunting anymore.
