I have a Hs Strut glass top call and I'm wondering what sound I should be making when a turkey is walking alway from me? Does it apply the same when I'm using a decoy?

I guess it depends on why he is walking away from you. If that big boy is with hens and heading the opposite direction you can make any sound you want at him and he isn't gonna turn around and head your direction until he is finished with his date. Chances are your best sound/call will be patience in that situation. Sit tight, he knows where you are and will come back at some point, or if you know which direction he is going and have the cover to do it you can try to circle him and get in his path. Good luck!!!

Good advice, fwagner, ---sometimes, I've been able to turn one around with an aggressive yelp, but, as often as not, he'll keep on going and even if he does turn around he won't come any closer than he did the first time. He wants you to come and travel off with him.

If you are out of sight of the turkey, try moving away while calling. This is best performed as a two person tactic, leaving one person in the original position. Sometimes a gobbler will continue to move forward if the sound is going the other way. But like fwagner said, if he is with other hens your best bet is to cut them off. You can also try coming back later in the day. Once the hens move off him, he will be looking for more ladies.

if the turkey is with hens, forgot about him coming any closer but if he is alone and starts to leave, purr at him. they love it
