If you have already purchased a bow---be it crossbow or long bow there should be some literature pertaining to proper care with it.If you are looking to purchase a bow-- talk to the dealer--ask some questions about how to maintain it to function properly.Another avenue is to view some online sites for archery products and info.

Read the owners manual. If you don't have one contact the manufacturer of your bow they can send you a manual and off advice on maintaining their equipment.
An archery guy at a pro shop can also make recommendations as far as tools, lubes, string wax etc.
Just like taking care of tools, cars, guns etc a little goes along way.
