I'm new to bow hunting and I was wondering whats the proper maintenence for a bow would be besides waxing the string. Any kind of lube and if so what types.

If you have already purchased a bow---be it crossbow or long bow there should be some literature pertaining to proper care with it.If you are looking to purchase a bow-- talk to the dealer--ask some questions about how to maintain it to function properly.Another avenue is to view some online sites for archery products and info.

I say take it into a pro shop and have them do a tume up - they basically tear it down and lube and check everything - take their advise and replace all items they tell you - including a new string! Gary

Read the owners manual. If you don't have one contact the manufacturer of your bow they can send you a manual and off advice on maintaining their equipment.

An archery guy at a pro shop can also make recommendations as far as tools, lubes, string wax etc.

Just like taking care of tools, cars, guns etc a little goes along way.
