both my boys used the diamond edge package and it worked fantastic. Unfortunately, they both have outgrown it now, but that's the nature of being your age. I think it's a fine starter bow. Good luck in the field!

I too had the razor edge package, but once i turned 13, i had more or less outgrown it. My suggestion would be the Mission Riot. I know it is near your budget, but it is worth every penny. It is nice and compact, and gives you lots of room to grow in it. Mine is also very accurate. 1 in. groups at 15 yards.

It's supposed to be a pretty good bow, so for your purposes I think it would be perfect, assuming you can also afford to buy the necessary non-included accessories, as JM pointed out.
JM also has a good point that the accessories included in bow packages are often pretty poor quality, so if it was me, I would look into buying the Infinite Edge as a "bare bow", and then add some slightly higher-quality accessories yourself. That might give you more bang for your buck than the package.

And by "looked it over" I mean that I held it in my hands today and examined it(The Infinite Edge package posted online just happened to be hanging right above the quiver I was looking at and it made me remember your post). The arrow rest was my only concern - It looked like it may get worn out really quickly and need to be replaced.

I just looked over the Infinite Edge on Bass Pro's website(the 350$ combo) and it looks pretty solid...after tax though it would put you really close to your budget, and as I stated earlier you will need to have money to buy arrows, a release, and broadheads.
-It will cost around $130 for 12 carbon arrows(Cabela's brand arrows offer the best deal - the last time I bought some they were 60$ for 12), 12 field tips for practice($5-10), an arrow release($25+), and a pack of 3 broadheads($25-40).

well this Bear Encounter you are talking about, it might have a little too heavy of a draw weight?

Cabela's currently has a sale on the Bear Encounter with a 60-70# draw weight on their website(Bare bow for $270). I would look into that if I were you, and buy the accessories to put onto the bow seperately.

Would be a great bow to start with...there are only two problems I can possibly see you having. The first is not budgeting for the price of the arrows, release, and broadheads. A release will be at least $20, and it will cost at least $20 per arrow(broadhead+arrow). The second would be that when buying a combo package, they often come with the bottom line accessories that may need to be upgraded.
