    Never called up an elk, but I have called in a lot of turkeys. It is not uncommon to have multiple gobblers come in together, so I would assume that it would not be unusual for elk to do the same.
    They are all looking for the same thing. I think Buglmin probably had it right, cause a herd bull usually won't leave his harem, just guessing though,,

    They may be 2 satellite bulls that got their butt kicked and are traveling together.

    menage trois? all animals are individuals never assume what one will do,that the other neccesarily will do the same.

    Those two bulls might of just been starting the rut. I know this is the case at times with whitetails so im guessing elk sometimes start late aswell.
