When camping out, hunting, is it best to have your camp/campfire above or below the elk?

Below the elk, just like for the bacon and eggs, it tends to cook better that way,,,,

plus as cold air sinks in the morning so does your scent. i dont think it really matters where you camp. from somewhere they will eventually smell your scet.

I tend to agree with you. I was also wondering because my thoughts would be that smell would drift up not down, so if you are above the elk you would have that advantage. BUT, wind also usually goes down the mountain, so that would give the elk the advantage. Ahh so many variables, gotta love hunting.

I am from the school of the "high ground" I like to be above and glass down. Of course variable weather this time of year can be a factor. I guess it all depends on finding a good camp site, with resources and protected from the wind.Looks like your from there, I'm not. What is your thought?
