Thank you all for the wisdom. I finally decided on a Swarovski 3.5-18x44 mounted with Warne base and rings. The Swarovski is 7 oz heavier than the Leupold with twice the magnification.

You can't go wrong with a Leupold scope, and the rings are just as good.

I think that is a good choice for a scope. I bought a pair of Warne rings and bases for my Savage 116 last year. I really like them. Very well made and stable. I really question if I will ever go back to the Leupold rings and bases.

I'd go ahead and stick with the leupold bases and rings. They are of very good quality just like their scopes.

I've got a Kimber 84M Montana .308 on order for when I get stateside. Now, what scope should I put on it? I'm leaning toward a Leupold VX II 3x9x33 Ultralight. Also, any advise on rings and base?
