I have a bear around my hunting property an i want to find out how big it is. What is the best way to attract a black bear to a trail camera to get good photos?

I'm not a bear hunter, but from everything I've heard and read, most any kind of strong smelling bait should work especially if it's sweet. Campers are always advised to keep food and garbage well away from their living area because a bear's sense of smell is so good. You shouldn't have any trouble attracting one to your camera if it is staying in your genera area.

good old molasses is one of the cheapest bear baits going, simply take a gallon or so of the sweet stuff and use a paint brush to smear it on tree trunks and large rocks around your game camera. If there's bruins around they will be drawn in by the sweet smell

bigjake's suggestion is a good one. Bearhunters around here burn the molasses or honey to get more smell out of it.
You can also use a couple of bacon strips fastened to a tree with wire at a height of 6 feet. The claw marks on the tree will give an idea as to the size of the bear. Position your camera accordingly.

I've heard of people spreading peanut butter on the trunk of the tree when trying to get a pic of a buck. I dont know if it would work for a bear though.
