Just read about a Pa. hunter being charged after harvesting the largest bear taken in that state in 2009--707lb.--Apparently he was using pastries to entice the bear to a bait site. The 39 year old hunter was fined 6800.00 bucks and loses his hunting privileges for three years.Anybody in Pa know more about this?

A game warden saw him driving around prior to the season with a lot of pastries. He took note of the guy's license plate. He then alerted all of the check stations to get a hold of him if this man showed up...when the guy checked his big bear in they busted him.

Thanks for the link--an interesting read-as the article states it is unfortunate that someone did not have the opportunity to legally harvest this bear

As an ex Pa resident, I have mixed feelings about Pa's bear season. It's not cheap and is only a couple days long. I don't see any problem with using an attractant for bears. We do it for deer. I think Pa is WAY to strict with hunting regulations. It is a sad story though. Even if you don't agree with the laws, you still have to FOLLOW THEM!!

this really grinds my gears . its just another way for the government to make money off of him. Buckblaster says it all. if we can bait deer then why cant we do the same for bear?
