If it's been in the family that long, chances are it's best to not shoot it. This line comes up from time to time and I have never found a reference to any specific manufacturer.
It might be a custom but somewhat prolific smith down in the TX area that made these back in the day.
Maybe try taking it on the antiques road show.

I also have a Caddo Chief 12 guage and have begun reseaching just recently. It was found behind the seat of an abandoned 52'Ford truck around 30 years ago, in a burlap sack, in pieces. I put it back together and shot it a few times like a dummy. OH well. I will let you know if I find anything useful.

First if you aren't sure about the gauge of the firearm take it to a gunsmith and get it checked out, often times they can glean alot more information from an old firearm. Lacking that route for info there are tons of resources out there from firearms shows to the local rod and gun clubs.

I'm not familiar with this particular make, you did mention you didn't know if it was a 12ga. If youre thinking of shooting this gun I would be extremely cautious, Lots of these older guns were made with damascus wired barrels and are not safe to use with todays ammo capabilities .
