Getting a new shotgun preferably a 12ga semi auto the person at my local gun store said that the stoeger m3000 would be good for me also the weatherby sa-08. i dint hear much about the m3000 but i have read some stuff on the sa-08 and dont like the swithcing of rings for 2 3/4 to 3" . i was also looking at the beretta 3901 standard but i dont know if that comes with a platic or rubber butt plate i know the old ones did but how about the new one? and what about the 3901 citizen i can see i have a rubber buttplate but it is like $200 more and even if it is the kick off system WOW! also i did not know about the 3901 at the time i went up there so i didnt get to hold but i am mabey going back up tonight and see if they have it . the main things i would be getting the gun for is pheasant waterfowl (duck and geese mn rivers and small lakes muddy wet and marshy so it has to be reliable.) also my spending limit is not that high and deffinatly in the low end for semi autos today max like $600-$700. if there are others you would recomend please comment.

-I've never shot any of the weapons you are looking at so I can't suggest any of them. Buying a shotgun is a lot like buying a bow...try out as many as possible before choosing one.
-You can put on aftermarket recoil pads, so I would not worry about that too much.
-Take care of it and it will last your entire life, so an extra $200 would be worth it in the long run if that gun felt better in your hands/performed better.

As a former referee for N.S.S.A there is little doubt that the REMINGTON 1100 is as dependable, easy to shoulder as any shotgun ever made, and reasonably priced.(HINT) the guy that breaks all those clays before they hit the ground,he can do that with other auto's as well.

Like JM, I haven't used any of those guns, so I can't personally speak to their effectiveness. I've heard good things about the M3000 though, for what it's worth. I also second what DSM said, don't think you need a semi-auto for pheasant and waterfowl hunting, the only really significant advantage they have over pumps is usually less felt kick, but a good aftermarket recoil pad will take care of that.

I would look into the Remington 11-87. For your purposes with waterfowl, it comes in duck blind camo, chambered for 3 1/2 inch, comes with all kinds of rem-chokes,and 28-30inch barrel. Mine even has a quick loader stock...which i'm still trying to figure how to use. I have never had any issues with it.That should be in your price range as I bought mine used at a gun show for about 450.00.
