I have a Supernova, and I love it. It shoots pretty well, and the recoil reduction is much appreciated. (It's not a pretty gun, but it will sure to the job) I have put slugs, buckshot and birdshot through it, and it is a work horse.

It is a workhorse! My buddy has one and it has been through alot between being used as a help-me up out of the water stick, boat oar, & many other uses that it was not intended to be used for and it doesn't miss a beat. I would argue with anyone that it is the best shotgun in its class.

I don't think you can go wrong with the Super Nova. I have a 870 Wingmaster I am pretty happy with. I've seen some critical comments on 870 Express quality of late but I haven't experienced it.

My sister and a friend both had Bennelli's and they weren't very happy with them - had lots of jamming problems, and one eventually broke completely and wouldn't cycle shells at all. So I personally wouldn't recommend them; as far as I'm concerned, you can't go wrong with the good ol' Remington 870.

I have had a lot of trouble with Benelli's, however, not the supernova in particular. You can't go wrong with the 870! I shoot Mossbergs and love them as well.

I have a Remington 11-87 Express, you can do so much with this shotgun,from hunting turkey to birds to skeet to changing the barrel and hunting larger game. It's a very versatile shotgun and I have yet to have an issue on it in the accuracy!

how reliable is the 11-87 and is it the super mag (3 1/2in) or just regular (3in)

A Supernova sucks as bad for waterfowl as it does for upland birds, but, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, thank God, not many are in it's class.
I have shot an 11/87SP in the field for the last 15 or so years, and other than it is a bit heavy cannot dispute it's reliability.
