Sounds like a good test for the Ol team. I have deer hunted with a smooth bore and rifled slugs for years and I am confident in their accuracy out to about 50 yards or so. For what it's worth, I found that my Remington 1100 (20 ga) preferred Winchesters over Federals and Federals over Remingtons. I've switched to a rifled barrel and Remington Buckhammers (12 ga). That set up drives nails at 100+ yards. IMO, The Buckhammer is far superior to sabot slugs.

Last year I hunted with a smooth barrel and riffled slugs through my 870 express. The best group I could get was about 3" at 50 yards. Out to 100 yards was anyone's guess where they were hitting. On the last day of deer season, I had a doe at about 80 yards and I held about an inch high and put her down on the spot. The problem was that I was aiming at the top of her back and I hit her in the head. It was a hail Marry and I wouldn't recommend doing it but at 50 yards, the slugs were fine. I shot Brenneke slugs (12 gauge).

Obscure fact of widespread interest lost by common BS: Yes it will. As described in patent US3200751, rifled slugs achieve ~ 10K RPM within 50 yards. Rifled barrels impart ~ 40K RPM. Both loose some spin holding up the nose of the bullet while imparting a leftward deflection via gyroscopic progression (and tumbling all-over effect when drop is too great). Also, having installed a longer barrel and better optics I'm now getting groups of 3" at 100 and 12" at 200 with a smooth bore.

Yes it will, AFTER its out the barrel via fins like an arrow does.
As described in patent US3200751, rifled slugs achieve ~ 10K RPM within 50 yards. Rifled barrels impart ~ 40K RPM. Both loose some spin holding up the nose of the bullet while imparting a leftward deflection via gyroscopic progression (and tumbling all-over effect when drop is too great).

More calculation of the Gyro Stabilization factor, SG, using Don Miller's Twist Rule revels rifled slugs getting SG > 1 somewhere past about 50 yards. What's uncertain is how much the air engages the fins of the slug since its supersonic and there's a pressure cone around the front (implies reverse-spin effect force may exist during part of flight). On person did a model of a 410 bullet but had filled in what he didn't know with assumptions.

Having installed a longer barrel and better optics I'm now getting groups of 3" at 100 and 12" at 200 with a smooth bore. After hunting season I plan to re-try the rifled choke with the same slugs (didn't have time to "shot in" with it before opening day, back to my cyl choke).
