You got a lot of good advice above--I'll avoid the Rem 870--Moss 500--Ben-Nova Debate & just say any good 12g pump is the most versatile & cost-effective hunting weapon you can get. If your budget is the driving force and you can only afford one gun to get you started, you can't go wrong with any of those. Good luck shopping and hunting--hunt happy & hunt safe!
