    i own a model 1899 savage lever action rifle, in a 303 cal. the serial# is 50007 can you tell me when this rifle was manufactured, and can i still get amuo. for this rifle duane

    According to the web site, savage99.com, which has an application where you can look up date of manufacture, your rifle was made in 1905.

    As for the chambering, assuming your .303 is a .303 British, you can still get ammo for your rifle. If you've never shot it, however, I suggest you track down a qualified gunsmith to check it out before shooting it.

      I realized afterwards that your rifle is probably chambered in .303 Savage--in which case getting ammo would be a bit of a trickier proposition.

      But there are places to find older and obsolete ammo on the web, including the .303 Savage. Good luck.

        if you reload 30-30 brass will work if fired inyour 303 frist check with your gunsmith frist that what what i use

          My guess is that it was .303 savage which is harder to find that .303brit
