Great topic. I have an 11 year old girl myself. She loves shooting a .22 and a .17 caliber. When it was time to step it up she was nervous, but comfortable with shooting. I have the Rem.700 synthetic 30-06. The gun is light enough for her to shoulder. With the reduced loads and some sticks, she's having a blast!

I wouldn't want to make her afraid of the kick so I would give her a 30-30 or 243 to start out with then kick it up a notch.
