I see a lot of people saying the .357mag and I will say, that if you're not a bigger guy or not used to shooting, it may come off as overly powerful. Yes you can shoot .38spc thru it, but I don't know that it's ideal in this case.

Although I don't think I've ever recommended it before, the .327mag may be just right for this application

I would go with a 22 mag you can buy a 22 pistol that has both 22lr and 22 mag cylinders, or try seeing if you could find a 17hmr pistol

I would suggest the .22 magnum, in a rifle small enough to handle squrils (with full metal jackets) but with hollow points can take down deer.

I too shoot coons with a .22 mag. I use CCI hollow points and also the new Hornady .22 mag ammo works well . As for coyotes .22 mag is fine as long as shot placement is good. A .357 mag is a better way to go for them as they do more damage so shot placement isn't as critical. You can use .38 special ammo in a .357 for far less recoil and still have similar results at close range. Plus .38 ammo is much cheaper.

if you want a pistol for shooting cyotes and coons that is bigger than a 22 get a 22 mag that is what i use and it is a good caliber for cyotes and coons but i mosley use it for rabbits

You might also just want a to check into a .22 mag revolver or a .38. Keep in mind though if your dog runs into a coon you need to make sure you dog is out of the way before shooting the coon, not even coon hunters remember to do this from time to time. I will tell you I've never had a problem killing coons with a .22 lr pistol and I've used one trapping and hunting for over 10 yrs now.

Look for a .357 mag, you can shoot .38 specials out of that way if you decide the magnums aren't too powerful you can shoot them.
