I am looking for a revolver that is bigger than a .22 but is not excessively powerful. I would like to use it to carry when out with my dog, to prevent coon attacks and also for coyote hunting. What wuold you suggest?

I would suggest the .22 magnum, in a rifle small enough to handle squrils (with full metal jackets) but with hollow points can take down deer.

It's hard to beat a good .357/.38 trail revolver. The Ruger SP101 with 4-inch barrel is what I suggest.
