That gun will do the job, however anytime you buy a Weatherby the ammo is going to cost you out the wazzu. That's the reason I won't buy one.

I just looked at this price for this caliber ammo. Here in MT its around $69.99 for 20 shells so I would suggest getting into reloading your own brass. I myself baught a .257 weatherby mag last season and was not able to harvest any animal with it, but I have heard people swear up and down about the magnum that you and I have, that its actually an extremely versitale rifle.

some places you can go to are http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ItemListing.aspx?catid=528
or http://www.midwayusa.com/BROWSE/BrowseProducts.aspx?pageNum=1&tabId=3&categoryId=7 647&categoryString=653***690***
Unfortunately it's gonna be expensive for that caliber.

Last season I purchased a Weatherby .257Mag for hunting whitetail deer it did a fine job. Would like to know if it would do well for hunting mule deer which I hope to do this season. Will be uning Weatherby ammo 100gr spire point as this is all that is available. Also would like to know if anyone else makes ammo for the Weatherby Magnum rifles as it is expensive and I don't handload. This is my first time on your program and would appreciate any input on my question. Thank you. AugustTags: None
