hey guys might be going to a local gun shop tonight got a fresh batch of mosin nagants my bro is most likely getting one. i might get one to if i like it i was just wondering what to look for when buying one. i do know if there is a hex reciever jump on it and tulas are better then izzes or is just a myth also how do tell if one is conterbored, what is a good year for buyying these or good years. also with all of the cosmoline on the stock how do you tell if its nice or not. also if it has any dings in the stock should you not buy it. last thing how do you tell rifling thats good or bad or is it just super easy like if its good it looks like a rifle and if its bad it looks like a shotgun or is there muvh more.

-There is a lot going on when looking over a used rifle with age, there is lot more than just the rifling that you need to worry about(trigger mechanism, springs, firing pin, etc.). As far as the rifling goes, bring a small flashlight you can shine down the barrel(through the chamber) to see if there is any pitting etc. Look at the rifling on one of your rifles at home to see what it is supposed to look like.
-I do not know much about Mosin Nagant's though so I can't tell you which are better.
