ok guys and girls i know i have been asking a ton of questions on which gun is better and why but well what i have heard and read from you guys and girls is that all the guns i am thinking about are all good. so i have decided to just pick all of them up at the store inspect them and then by seeing how the fit and finish on all of them and how well they fit me. my only question now is if i should get a rifle or a shotgun right now. uses for if i got a shotgun that i can use on my own property every year.(pheasent, clays, goose, and deer.) uses for a shotgun else where and with freinds and if my dad brings me some where to hunt or something. ( turkey, ducks) both of which some of my freinds do. uses for a rifle on my property every year. ( coyote, and target.) uses for a rifle with freinds or if my dad brings me ona big hunting trip. ( deer, elk, moose, bear Etc.) my other question is if i should get a cheaper shotgun like an 1100 (my dad has one and ever since i have outgrown my 870 youth i have been using that and my dads 870 wingmaster and i like it a lot. it seems reliable but it is a magnum version and it doesnt eject light loads that well ( pheasent loads and target loads.) but it does eject magnums and slugs perfectly.) or should i get a nicer shotgun like a sx3 or maxus or benelli or something like that for what i use it for.also how much should i spend on a shotgun for my purposes? P.S. i prefer semi autos i just like quick follow ups. since i live next to a game farm the pheasents dont like to fly until you are litteraly on top of them. in other words i have lost many pheasents because of a pump action for how close they are coming up. also these pheasent are fast compared to many others ive seen. and no im not a bad shotgunner. i can outshoot most of my freinds but the only person who i think is better then me is my brother.if i were to get a rifle though i would want a bolt action i am just used to those and how expensive of an ammount should i spend on a rifle for my purposes? p.s. i am the best though with rifles not sure about centerfire (never versed anyone) but with .22s i spin circles around my bro.) also jm i know what you mean by the model 70 having a silk smooth bolt i felt as iff it was so smooth you cant even tell if there would be a bullet in the claw when extracting.

-I feel like a shotgun would be the better option for you at the current time.
-Have you ever hunted with a semi-auto? The majority of the time in hunting situations you can not get off a follow up shot any quicker than a pump. If you really want a semi-auto pick up a Remington 11-87(but to be honest, I think a pump is the better option for you). You could buy a Remington 870 AND a rifled barrel for LESS than a semi-auto shotgun without the second barrel. With the rifled barrel and modern slugs you can reach out to almost 200 yards with practice which I believe will cover all hunting situations you will be in.

i have hunted with a semi auto my dads 1100 all the time for pheasents. when you mean the 870 what type are you talking about the express? wingmaster? my dad has a wingmaster and i feel like the leength of pull was a little long even with a t-shirt on. its really bad witha jacket. i do really like the action just i dont like the look and feel of the express. i do like the wingmaster the metal work is nice and so is the wood. also why the 11-87? ive heard they are really hit and miss.

it says that it can take and ive read it can shoot 2 3/4 up to 3 1/2 in. I was just wondering about reliability and slug barrel prices. also do you think it would be smart if I were to get a cheap shotgun like a Mossberg or a Remington 870 and then buy a more expensive rifle or buy a decent priced shotgun and then wait until I get more money for a nice rifle or the other way around I know this is very sad that I keep changing my mid its just I want to get one shotgun and one rifle for most any situation that will last my life and many others. and very maintenance free but reliable.

by fitch270It's looking like the ammo situation may be with us for awhile. I'd thought about picking up an adult style pellet rifle a few years ago but put the idea...
