I have always used Hoppe's products or Remington's "Rem Oil" depending on which is in stock. Never had any problems with them, so I have not tried anything else.

I use regular Hoppe's or Hoppe's Copper Solvent.

We just use the regular Hoppe's #9, seems to work fine. For muzzleloaders, we use T/C #13 Bore Cleaner.
