    how does the 7.64x54r perform

  • #2
The Russians used it as a sniper round in WWII, so I believe that speaks for itself as far as accuracy/power goes. I have heard people compare it to the .30-06 round, so if this is true the round would be highly effective for both hunting and target shooting if you can find the correct type of ammunition.

I was impressed by it's accuracy with open sights and a long barrel for sight plain, fun to shoot not quite the rifle to compared to the .o6.ammunition is not to hard to find as I believe there was about 38 million made.

By dimension it's closest to the 308 Win (7.62x51), and also performs pretty close to that. Lot's of rifles and lots of corrosive ammo that's a lot of fun for plinking.

Check out this site for just about everything under the sun dealing with this round. www.7.62x54r.net

Like JM said, it was a very effective Soviet sniper round, so I can't imagine that it wouldn't perform as well on game, provided you find the right gun/load combo.
