I just read John Snow's article "Why we love 6.5s" and I think I may have an original .260 remington. About 10 years ago I inherited a winchester model 88 that was wildcatted by my father in the late 80's or early 90's. It has a barrel on it that is marked "T F S" and right below it "6.5-08". I believe the TFS is the barrel maker. And I figured it is a 6.5 bullet with a neck downed .308 case. From the article it sounds as this is the same as a .260 Remington. This rifle came with a bunch of handloads, but I am now almost out. I'm not an active reloader, so I am wondering if I can run factory .260 Remington rounds through this rifle? Can anyone tell me definitively?

While the .260 Rem. is also referred to as the 6.5-08 in some places, do not assume that you can run factory .260 Rem. ammo through your barrel. In fact, it is unlikely that the chamber is cut to SAMMI .260 Rem. specs, as it is bearing the mark of the wildcat 6.5-08.
You would need to work with a highly qualified gunsmith to take an accurate cast of your chamber (in itself a tricky procedure) and get all the appropriate measurements before trying to run factory ammo through that rifle.
Let us know what you end up doing.
