    Mac---I don't know the answer, but I hope someone does. I've been wondering myself.

      I would consult the manufacturer of the rifle/stock you want to torque. Not all screws are created equal. Torque applied will depend on screw design and size. Just remember to torque in inch pounds not foot pounds.
      Same goes for scope bases and rings. Each manufacturer has specified torque settings.
      I would like to add a Wheeler Engineering FAT (Firearm Accurizing Torque) Torque Wrench Screwdriver to my gunsmith tools.

        Johnnie is correct, consult the Manufacturer, but 65 in/lbs gets quoted a lot by precision stock makers. I use 50 on my Bell synthetics.
