Hitting a target is one thing, killing an animal is another. Do you need to know how far you can hit a target or the effective killing range.

Yes a 22-250 can shoot that far, but you will have a very hard time to shoot it with any accuracy at 800 yds. So many things come into play at that distance, wind, shot angle, BC, and the shooters ability to make it all come together at that distance. If you want to shoot that far I think a bigger caliber will serve you better, like a 6.5-284 or a 30 cal something to buck the wind a little better and a bullet with a higher BC. If you are punching holes in paper, try it with your 22-250 if you are hunting something I would go with a bigger caliber. I have shot at a target at 1200 yds with a 300 mag and with a 1.5 inch high zero at 100yds I had to aim 10-12 feet above the full sheet of plywood to hit it and it was no where near the 3ft circle in the middle. I'm not questioning your ability to shoot, but 800yds is far no matter who you are. Good luck.

.243 Winchester/.257 Roberts/.308 Winchester is what everyone I know uses on coyotes.
