Reguarding your advice for the right-handed left eye dominant young man. I think you did him a disservice. Few people can switch hit. I'm also right-handed and have a dominant left eye. I'm a retired peace officer and have been shooting all my life. I believe I can shoot very well. I sight down the barrel of a rifle with my right eye using either iron sights or a scope. I'm an avid benchrest shooter and have shot sub 1/2 inch groups. I shoot hand guns with my left eye and have done very well. Bill Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I dont see a question in here but yeah I agree. I think your "dominent" eye is whatever eye you practice with the most. I'm left handed but I shoot archery both right handed and left handed because growing up couldnt afford my own bow so me and a buddy shared his, but once I could afford one I figured i'd be more accurate so I bought a left handed bow. I shot my first deer right handed because it was completely to my left(if I turned woudlve seen me obviously). I've shot both handed all my life.

      Bill:

I'm afraid I missed the question you're referring to, but I don't believe anyone here on the OL forums proclaims to be an expert. We all ask questions and with our collective outdoor knowledge and life experiences, we put our heads together and offer up the BEST possible solution we can possibly afford given the question at hand.

Perhaps it's just me, it's a bit offensive to come on here and say one member did another a disservice. There are plenty of places online and/or professionals we can go to for information. These are discussions. I would hope that anyone asking a question to DISCUSS their situation at hand would know that we're just regular avid outdoor enthusiasts like they are. Again, I don't believe I've seen anyone here on the OL forums proclaim to be all-knowing when it comes to all outdoor, hunting and/or shooting situations.

      My two cents.

I believe he is referring to John B. Snow's advice on pg. 46 in November's issue.

I'M SURE OF ONE THING. it's easier to learn right the first time, and to my knowledge it would be easier to switch shooting form than to try and shoot without the dominate eye being the primary focal point. expert opinion? I was trained by an ADVANCED MARKSMEN UNIT all ARMY PISTOL TEAM COACH for thirty years,it doesn't matter how you shoot, just don't miss the bull's eye
