Anyone have any experience or knowledge about the Savage Axis? Saw one chambered in .270 at a gun shop with a Bushnell scope for $319.99.

I have never shot one or even know anyone who have shot one, but what I saw at a local gun shop was less than desirable. I was looking at getting one but the 1st thnig I noticed on the several I inspected was the bolt was looser than a night walker in Vegas! I don't know if this has been taken care of but it was enough to make me second guess and ultimately walk away from it. I would try to find someone who has one that would allow you to shoot it or just go and inspect them yourself. I hear alot of people say they are ugly but they shoot 2x4 basswood stock M-Berg! I could care less about looks and infact for a composite stock it looks nice. -
May not be as smooth as expensive rifle's but I guarentee you it will be accurate and reliable enough to kill what your shooting at. I see quite a few savage rifle's at the gun range and from what i've seen they do just fine.Comment

i have one in 270 and just went to the range id never even shot it andv it took 6 shots. mine has a bushnell scope and i got it for around 420 dollars. its a really good gun for the money
