I think there are a couple of variables that have to be ironed out here. For instance: What (game) are you shooting? How sensitive are you to recoil? and What is your price-range for a rifle and scope set-up? There are many rifles, cartridges, and bullets that are capable of excellent long-range shooting. If you can answer those three questions, then we'll be on our way to narrowing down a good combination for you.

You cant go wrong with a 22-250 or a 223 the 204 is ok but the bullets are to light for me. Any major bullet manufacture for a reloading manual. Try cabelas or your local gun shop that sells reloading equipment. Look on line on Amazon books for reloading manuals. I have a few different ones, Barnes, Nosler, Speer, and Hornady they all have a wealth of info in them.
