I stripped off the old shiney finish from a walnut rifle stock. I want to refinish with hand rubbed oil. What is the best type of oil to use? Any tips for success?

I Have always had great looks and waterproof finnish with linseed oil.

I agree with larry, linseed oil is the way to go.

I was told by a gun smith to use Teak oil. He said it will actually dry where linseed oil won't. I don't know if that's true but it did make for a beautiful finish on my stock.
