I purchased a Weatherby Vanguard in stainless steel. Upon removing the bolt, I noticed a "thread-like" strand of stainless steel about 3/4" that extends diagonally across the left "lug" raceway closest to the chamber. Is there a tool whereby I can "scrape" and remove that "strand" of stainless steel from the raceway?

I think I would return to where the rifle was purchased and question them or contact Weatherby's tech support just to play it safe.

If the "thread" is just a raised piece of metal from the machining you can probably polish it away with a piece of emery paper wrapped around a small block of wood that fits into the raceway.

If it is more than a burr, however, and it is binding the travel of the bolt at all I'd probably go the route that 25-06 guy recommends and have Weatherby service it.
