I haven't shot that particular model, though I haven't heard of any issues with it.

The new versions of the 817 with the oversized muzzlebreaks are about the silliest add-on I've seen, though if I were 11 years old and pining for a rimfire rifle the sight of it would probably make me shake like a Lab in a duck blind with excitement.

I'm not too fond of the particular tacti-cool model you're referring to, although I have seen them in person. A muzzlenbeak on a .17HMR isn't exactly a necessity and I agree... it looks ridiculous.

There are other models of 817's without the muzzlebreak installed...
