One of my favorite shooting rifles is a sporterized 8mm Mauser. It's a nice gun, and is fun to shoot, but the bore is poor. The bore is highly pitted and is a nightmare to clean. Despite this, it routinely places 3 shots within 1.5 inches at 100 yards. This contradicts everything I've ever read about accuracy and bore condition. I don't get it. Why does this gun shoot so well?
