Are red scot scopes variable power. I am looking at getting one and putting it on my S&W; MP 15 22 any suggestions. Should i get a red dot or a regular .22 scope.

Before you get a red sight, consider what will be your primary target. Most red dot sight have a 4 MOA dot at 100 yards. That means the the actual bullet contact point could be anywhere within that 4 inch circle. If you are going to be using it for rabbit or squirrel at longer ranges, you might want to look a good .22 scope.
But if it is just for plinking, they work real well.
I have one mounted on an SKS and it has worked well and killed a deer or two.
Just depends on how you are going to be shooting the gun.

Red dot scopes have a variable intensity level, but red dot scopes are not variable power. If you want a variable scope, you will have to go with a regular variable .22 scope.
