Mounting a peep sight is not that difficult for a good gunsmith. However, finding a good gunsmith willing to do it for less than the cost of a decent 783 or 770 might be a challenge.

If there's a Gander Mountain near your house go there, they have good gunsmiths. Does your gun have fixed sights or does it need to have holes drilled? If it has fixed sites, they definitely have some sort of aftermarket part. And 100 yards or closer is easy for a peep sight. In marine training their expected to hit a human at 300 yards with open sights, it'll be fine.
