Is there much difference in the recoil of a .270 vs a .270WSM if they are shooting same grains out of the same type of gun? How do these compare to the '06 if say you are shooting 130 grains out of the .270's and 150's out of the '06?

I have noticed more felt recoil with a heavier bullet than the smaller caliber much faster loads.
cgull brings up an excellent point as I feel much less impact with the synthetic stocked modern recoil pads even though the gun is lighter. As an example I would rather shoot my 7mag remington synthetic with r3 pad 140grn load, than my short heavy wood stocked 308, old pachmeyer pad and 200 grain load. Watch out for the scope "kiss" with the lighter gun.

The 270 WSM would be what Jack O'Connor would love. It depends on the Rifle as far as felt recoil. My New Browning X-Bolt is something else, it has the felt recoil of a 30-06 but mine is a 325 WSM. Recently I shot a perfect five shot group with it,5 shots for five deer. If I got another one it would be in 270 WSM. The 270 WSM is at least 200 fps faster in all bullet weights than the 270 Win and maintains the speed in shorter barrels. Get one you will love it, and see my review at www.foremosthunting.com
