I want to squeeze more from my remington sps 700 25/06. Besides price, is there a big differance between piller bedded stocks and one with an aluminum bedding block?

Yes: the aluminum bedding block is bench rest quailty, piller bedding a stock is for gun's that dont shoot well?

I did quite a bit of research into bedding techniques before setting up my competition .308. When I consulted McMillan about it they said that there is no noticeable difference in which way a stock is bedded as long as it's done by a competent gunsmith. The different methods of bedding are simply alternate ways of reaching the same goal of improving accuracy.
