I like the Tikka rifle very much. Not so long ago, there were some quality issues in respect to stock to metal fitting on rifles of some major manufacturers. The Tikka was turning out a quality firearm at that time and I believe the t3 is an improvement on the older model I owned. I especially like the redesigned pistol grip area of the stock and the overall lines of the rifle stock. They turned out a Hunter Deluxe with nice wood and a rosewood fore end that was eye catching. The bolt is a thing of beauty, it may lack the mauser extractor claw of the Classic Win Model 70 but it is smooth and strong. The Savage gets lots of compliments these days and rightfully so. I believe Savages are good value and reasonably accurate. The Tikka is more money than the Savage but it is a more accurate rifle out of the box and better looking to boot. Yes, the gallery will announce that their Savage is very accurate. I don't doubt it, but in general the Tikka rifles are more accurate and the workmanship speaks to an attention to detail.

My pleasure. My Tikka was a 25-06. In a weaker moment I gave it to my brother for Christmas, not sure why I was feeling so generous that year? I did think of one thing worth changing on a Tikka - I'd mount a better recoil pad on a 30-06 if I planned on shooting it lots. You may be tougher than me and not think it necessary.

Ya i had shoulder surgery this summer so maybe a recoil pad is a good idea. Actualy i bought my dad one for his birthday, maybe I will take it back,he doesnt seem to use it.

I have the Tikka T3 lite in 300 Win. Mag. and have never felt the need for a better pad even hunting with light cloths for hogs in the summer.
My one negative is that an extra magazine is highly over priced going for $60-$80.
