Turkey is moving away from NATO and the west. Will the tariffs lead to embargo and the end of the imports? Will that matter to you? Are there Turkish made guns you personally find appealing?

Do you think the tariffs with Turkey will lead to the end of the import Turkish made guns?

I do not know about Turkey and their tariff situation, but Turkey wants very much to be a EU member and that would never happen if they were not a part of NATO ! What tariffs affects would have on a guns embargo is still a very big question mark, but there is no question on the NATO matter, and will not be a part of the equation !

Turkey seems to be slipping more and more toward the Left. They have a large amount of debt yet keep on building. We will always need Turkey because of our massive Incerlik Air Base.
On tariffs and guns, I think there is enough room to pay the tariff and still for the Turkish guns to be competitive in the U.S.

Turkey is moving away from the "democratic" society that allied with the U.S. in WWII and Korea and are moving towards an Islamic "theocracy".
Turkey is holding an American minister in exchange for a past Turkish leader living in New Jersey (?) that tried to overthrow the current, malignant theocracy that is emerging now.
Trump won't negotiate with terrorists. The minister is screwed. The Turks won't release him over tariffs.

The tariffs on Turkey are pretty much nonsense intended to at best stir the rumor mill and hurt the value of Turkey's currency which is already struggling (like many others in the world). They will have almost no direct effect on Turkish exports.
Turkey has two aluminum smelters that together produce about the same amount of metal a year as any one of the fourteen US plants still operating. However, in recent decades Turkey has developed a significant export industry in finished aluminum products, primarily to Germany, UK, and Iraq. Turkey imports far more aluminum than it can produce. I can't see that they could be exporting much raw product aluminum half way around the world to the US so that tariff is really ineffective. Nonsense actually.
America is the largest importer of Turkish steel (still, only 13% of its steel exports go to US) but steel comprises less than five percent of all Turkish exports. Maybe that tariff will hurt them a little ... but so little that I'm sure they could hustle up new a new market for it easily enough without too much damage (like selling to Russia next door ... which one would think would not be a desirable effect of an American tariff because the Russians will just make cheap guns with it to sell to terrorist organizations).
And this is all over a Baptist preacher in jail awaiting espionage trial who the Turks won't agree to release unconditionally. Get him some good legal representation, keep the case in the news, and let the guy have his day in court. If he's not guilty, they'll be shamed into releasing him (because Turkey really wants to stay on the good side of West with Putin as a neighbor) and they'll be more careful about letting it happen again. If he's guilty then the US (or whoever the preacher is spying for) will get embarrassed and be more careful in the future. Letting it go to trial is the most productive option. Trump's bully tactic really accomplishes nothing but damage. And sets a VERY bad example of arbitrary diplomacy by tariff for other countries to follow (and we in Canada are already experiencing it with Saudi Arabia). Extremely counterproductive for maintaining world peace and any idiot should have been able to see that. But Trump's insight capabilities are below zero.
The reason Trump is hip shooting with tariffs and NAFTA is because that's really about all he can do as president at this point. He has alienated his own party and Congress. He is a sociopath who needs to prove that he has power, that he is in control, that the world revolves around him. So this is what he does because he can do it without any Congressional control. We can at least be thankful he's not sending the military off on some frivolous whim.
