  • Remington M48 or M11-48?

Yeah, I found another one. The bbl code says it was made in December of 1952.
The Remington sites I've found say the M48/M11-48 serial numbers start at 5,000,000.
The s/n on this gun is 353****.
    What am I missing?
Is the M48 and the M11-48 one and the same or is there a difference in the two?
The S/N on the gun is very clear and bright.

Rem M48/M11-48 16 gauge full choke.
Condition is "good". Reasonable wear on metal, bluing and wood. Wrist of stock has a split and the stock rocks up and down slightly.
Bbl interior glassy smooth, no bulges.
All recoil rings present and in place.
    Price right now is $275.
Being 16 gauge and midsummer, it's going to sit there awhile. The longer it sits, the cheaper it gets.
Should be able to pick it up in a couple of months for well below $200.

They also had a Win M70 "Super Grade" in .458 Win Mag in excellent condition. $1700

I had the 11-48 in the early '60's. Recoil adjustment is old technology. Mine was temp sensitive and sometimes would not fire in the cold.

jimbo, a little more searching and I read that the M48 is the "Sportsman" to the M11-48.
