Does anyone know if any of the scent control products (antiperspirant, detergent, etc.) sold in sporting goods stores is actually any better/different than scent-free products (arm&hammer;,etc.) bought in a department store? The price is so different, I'm curious if the end result is really worth it?

Years ago I read a tip in F&S or OL. If you stay downwind and don't move it doesn't matter what you wear or smell like.

Many hunting products are marketed to catch hunters, not deer.

But still, I use the hunting soaps, sprays, etc. Part of the seasonal tradition.

I use the soap & the detergent, but I don't go crazy with all the other stuff. I can't say for sure if they're really worth the extra money, but I'm willing to spend a few extra bucks on something that might gove me an advantage if I can't stay downwind.

For the past three years I've been using the department store stuff and it has worked fine for me...I've been able to fill the freezer and put racks on the wall each year. I watch the wind closely and don't move around. The unscented stuff is the olfactory equivilent of being as quiet as possible---I'll never be able to eliminate all sound or scent, but I'll reduce it as much as possible. Good hunting to you.
