My budget is now up to $500 and I am looking at buying a new Leupold 20-60x80 spotting scope, the Ventana has an eye relief of 26.4 at 20x and 24 at 60x, and the Sequoia has eye relief of 19.9 at 20x and 15 at 60x. The Ventana is also about a pound lighter and is about $80 more, other than that the stats are quite similar. What is eye relief and which is the better scope to get?

I have Leupold and have no experience with the Ventana brand. I love my scopes. Never had an issues. Eye relief is basically the amount of give you have to see through the scope in full spectrum. So if you get a spotting scope or scope with a poor eye relief then you may struggle to be able to look out of it and see the entire image. On a scope it all depends on your mounting and you can get a scope that has a poor eye relief but if you get it setup right then you may not ever have an issue. A spotting scope I would by one that has the best eye relief within your budget and that has the amount of zoom that you want.
