How long does bow string last in general. I have heard of someone's string snapping as he drew his bow back and (lucky not his face or neck) slashed his arms bad.

When I try to narrow down my question into the right category, the "submit" box is in the way of the boxes so I only have a few boxes barely visible. I don’t know if there is more to add so it would be in the right category.

I do not have a good answer, but my son-in-law was a state champion at one time. He was sent to Valdosta, Georgia by a bow company to compete nationally. He had a brand new factory sponsored bow and it blew up on him there, spoiling his chances. The blowup was blamed on his shooting the bow 10 hours a day for a good month while getting ready for the meet. So from that I would assume the amout of wear would be one of the bigest factors in when it needed to be changed. I have mine changed about every four years, but my son-in-law changes his every year, or quicker if he sees some signs of wear. He says he never wants to experience another blowup.

Depends on how much you shoot it and/or wear and tear out in the field. Some of my bows see little use and the strings have been on those at least 10 years. My hunting bows get new strings every 1 to 2 years. If in doubt change the string.
