In NC it gave us daily highs in the 50s (about normal for this time of year, but much lower than the 80s we’d been having the previous week). No precipitation worth noting, but Friday we had wind gusts up to 65mph

We got a few inches of snow, high winds, lots of downed trees. My power was out when I got home Friday around 5. Came back on just before midnight Saturday. Hooked up the generator Saturday morning to run the fridges and top off water and run a cord to the nearest neighbor. First time I've run that other than maintenance checks since Irene and Sandy. I have family members who are being told Wednesday and a lot of people right in my immediate area are still in the dark.

Today is beautiful, however. Heavier snows and high winds forecast for Wednesday.

Funny. My youngest learned how to play Tripoli by lantern and fire this weekend, both Friday and Saturday nights was the four of us who are still in the house at the dining room table.

Our long walk was shorter in distance and longer in duration than usual yesterday. I rails to trails project trailhead is about 30 yards from the end of my driveway. We walked less than a mile along it before giving up. Had already scrambled around over and under a bunch of deadfalls til we got to a point where there looked to be a solid 100 yards of 18" oaks across the trail and private property on both sides. We called it a hike at that point and turned around.

Gary, there hasn't been anything but hard water here since December. This is not New Jersey.

                    Right now it's 11 degrees
Every snow we have had warms up, rains and the ground is bare ready for the next snow.
