you can use hotdogs,shrimp,dogfood,or my personal favorite strips of cut bait. (as my grandfather said to me as a young boy)( waste not want not!)so when i clean my catch i save the remains. (skin,body, guts)in the tubs that ground beef & turkey come in. i put the body & guts in my crawdad trap (a nother good bait for catfish & bass) i cut the skins in to 6 inch strips and ziz zaz 3 inches on your hook so you have a 3 inch tail leave that 6 inches from the bottom and have fun reeling them in
