Length is relative to age & forage abundance Life histories of the species & the contaminant itself are very important in the determination Also learn how humans handle the listed contaminant

You have to take in to account the prey species that a fish feeds upon. Most of the time what the issue is is bio-accumulation of contaminants and toxins. Though these get stored typically in the fat of the fish that is in part dependent on what it is eating.

Not all fish have the same amount of fat. Toxins like mercury get trapped in the belly fat of fish. Therefore fish that has a higher percentage of belly fat may be on the list while another with lett fat may not. www.letsgofishin.us

How come only certain fish are on a consumption advisory? wouldn't all species be affected by contaminates in the same water system.? Example, a river not far from where I live has a consumpton advisory on walleye, in the reservoir it feeds. Channel catfish greater than 17" how come all species aren't affected, and regardless of length.?
