In the NC mountains i have had some pretty good luck with smaller rooster tails. I catch smallmouth in the rivers up here, I'm not so sure about lake smallmouths.

When the water warms up in the St Lawrence River, I prefer "Rattle Traps" in the areas where there are a lot of rocks. Otherwise, I prefer Spinnerbaits. www.letsgofishin.us

I have found that Delong's Black Tadpoles and Baby Slugos produce for me anywhere there are Bronze Backs, If you can keep them away from the Largemouths.

In the Cowpasture, Jackson, and James Rivers of Western Virginia I have had success using a 1/8 ounce jig head baited with a Bass Pro Shops Triple Ripple Series 3" Grub. My favorite color is pumpkin seed/chartreuse.

So far, I've built a "bee vacuum" and a "swarm trap".
When I deploy the trap this spring, I'll need at least one hive....I hope!...
