I want to start fishing for Pike this year, but I have never gone after pike. I would like any opinions and/or suggestions to help me out. To give some specifics... I have No Boat. I am interested in both Live Baits and Artificial Lures. The best way fish the Canals and Rivers (Hudson and Mohawk River/Erie Canal). Would it be worth it to fish a lake without a boat? Thank You.

I say it is but you have to know if fish are there.

It probably depends on the lake but it's worth at least a try. And I personally have caught pike on simple lures like rubber worms but I've heard that red and white Daredevil spoons work really well for pike

If you are fishing from the shore look for shallow cover and when you find it either use a weedless swimbait or a weedless spoon. For better results throw a trailer on the back of the spoon. Another great lure is the golden docter spoon.

So far, I've built a "bee vacuum" and a "swarm trap".
When I deploy the trap this spring, I'll need at least one hive....I hope!...
